About Nicki:

Nicki, founder of Yoga Form, qualified and practiced as an attorney in South Africa. After immigrating to Antwerp, she completed a degree in Dutch, and lectured and studied at the University of Antwerp. Around that time, Nicki began to explore yoga through intense practice and theoretical study. Nicki has been fortunate to learn and practice under various international and local teachers and continues to draw her inspiration from diverse yogic schools and traditions. Through her South African mentor, Swami Kamalavidya Saraswati, Nicki continues to explore the Satyananda yoga tradition and follows the teachings of the Bihar Yoga Bharati. Her teaching style flows from the Vinyasa system as well as incorporating aspects of the Satyananda tradition. Nicki is profoundly inspired and guided by Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa and the teachings of Yogi Bhajan and has studied these teachings and technology in Rishikesh, India with Gurmukh completing her training as a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Teacher. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) of the Yoga Alliance and a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Teacher through Kundalini Research Institute (KRI). Through the creation of Yoga Form, Nicki is privileged to open the door for aspirants on the path of yoga and to actively engaged in building and supporting the local and international yoga community. Through the establishment of YogAspire, Nicki hopes to be actively engaged in local and South African community service.

This class explores advanced practices with new insights and techniques. The most experienced practitioners will gain new insights and methodology to elucidate the development of classically important practices in Yoga, including breathing. Therapeutics will also be addressed.

Observation and understanding our limits, while reserving judgments during our practice will lead to clarity of perception, and gradually increase our understanding of the physics of movements and physical energetics. All this by isolating and supporting our weakest and neglected areas.

About Robert:

Robert Boustany is a physicist, who has been teaching yoga for 41 years.
He is known for a details understanding of the anatomy of poses, and will explain
the energetic and therapeutic reasons for alignments, and practical reasons
and insights for sequencing, and development.
His background is primarily Ashtanga, Iyengar, Forrest. His philosophic perspective is Advaita.
Yoga Basics Foundation Course with Barbara Mullin: A three part foundation course in yoga
Explore the fundamentals of Yoga in three afternoon workshops. This course is a great introduction to, or enhancement of, your Yoga knowledge beyond regular classes. Get a more complete picture of what Yoga is and how to make your practice more fulfilling.
Session 1: Anatomy and Asana
We will familiarise ourselves with the basics of anatomy and relate this to our asana (posture) practice. How do we develop strength, flexibility, alignment and endurance? And why would we want to beyond the purely physical health reasons? We'll consider the connection of the physical body with our emotional and energetic selves.

Session 2: The Eight-Fold Path
These eight building blocks of Yoga provide the guide to a complete practice both on and beyond the mat. Based on knowledge from the ancient Yogic text The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the eight-fold path remains just as relevant for finding peace of mind today as it did more than 2000 years ago. We will explore all eight components on the Yogic path in theory and practice as well as discussing the 'big questions' such as: What is meditation? What is enlightenment? What do we mean when we talk about God?

Session 3: Making Yoga Yours
Why do you practice Yoga? What do you want from the practice? What yogic type are you- sattvic, rajasic or tamasic? How do you learn best- through action (karma), wisdom (jnana) or devotion (bhakti)? We will spend this lesson learning to create your own sadhana (individual practice) choosing from a variety of Yogic tools (asana, pranayama, meditation, mudra, mantra, etc.) best suited to your individual needs.

About Gurmukh:
Gurmukh is the co-founder and director of Golden Bridge, the premier center for the study and practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation in Los Angeles, CA, and now also in New York City. YogArom aims to synthesize the two strata of yoga and aromatherapy to generate their respective benefits simultaneously. Specially chosen aromas are combined with breathing exercises and yoga postures in different ways to enable a conscious experience of the flow of prana (vital life force) within. Veerle will lead you through this experience and teach about the essential oils themselves. About Veerle: In 1992 Veerle Waterchoot started an independent practice of aromatherapy.
